I'd start with arranging the odd power supplies you must use (whammy, DL4 and other), group them tight together and then decide on what system you want to use for the other pedals. I've got 8 stomp boxes I can bring in on the PX-8, it is amazing how they degrade the sound, even the Steve Vai Morley volume pedal takes away highs. I'm playing an American Standard Stratocaster into a Ditto2 looper into a Rupert Neve Designs Direct Interface and into my Bose concert system. The Pedal Switcher lets me really hear the effect of gadgets on my signal path, I'd say it's the single most important piece I've got. I've powered my rigs both ways and it sounds the same either way. I can't honestly say the Voodoo Lab power supply offers anything over a 1-spot and a multi-way power supply splitter cable, except maybe nicer packaging. The new 8-channel pedal switcher runs on regular 9 VDC so it can run on the system supply rather than an odd wall wart.

I love Voodoo Labs gear, I just got a PX-8 Pedal Switcher and Commander preset pedal. If you keep the power supplies away from the signal cables you can still get a nice quiet rig without ground loops, the individual power supply transformers are already isolated. Keep the transformers away from your unbalanced guitar cords, this is a great reason to make your own cords between effects so you keep the signal path short and compact. I pack the DL4 wall wart and the Whammy plug transformer in tight next to my Voodoo Pedal Power supply. There may be someone who makes a custom power supply that can do everything but I'm not buying it. None of the usual players have multiple 1.2-1.3 9 VAC outputs. I checked my Whammy and DL4 and you're correct about voltage and current. I'm hoping somebody else has had experience with similar pedals and could possibly tell me what they use.Īny help or insight would be great! Thanks!Īny help or insight would be great! Thanks! It's an interesting problem to have, you have some great pedals. The holy grail I have is also the older version, which I'm not certain will be compatible with any pedal brick, so I'm content if that's my only unit with a wall wart. Most of the power bricks I've read about don't provie that much mA from a single output, usually maxing at around 500mA or so. The Jamman, Whammy and Line6 DL4 all specify a 9VAC with a huge mA draw, in the realm of 1200mA or 1300mA.

I'm thinking about going with the VooDoo labs Mondo but I'm just not sure if it'll work for mA hungry pedals. Mainly because I've got a few hefty pedals that it can't power with it's standard 9v DC. I've used a Furman SPB-8c board and it's included power supply for many years but it's just not cutting it anymore. I'm in the process of setting up a new pedal board, but I'm perplexed about what power supply to use. Got a question that I'm wondering if one of you wizards can answer.
